You’ll be surprised at how you can easily make these at home and stash a bunch in the freezer for a quick, easy meal anytime. Simply mix the filling, stuff it into the wonton wrappers, wrap into wonton shapes, and boil until they float. Pile up as many as you think you can eat, garnish with extra cilantro, green onions, and a drizzle of chili sauce and enjoy as a snack, or light, yet satisfying dinner.
INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground chicken
1 cup cilantro, chopped, plus extra for garnish
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
3-4 cloves garlic, grated
3 green onions, finely chopped, plus extra for garnish
In a large mixing bowl, add the ground chicken, cilantro, ginger, garlic, green onions, cornstarch, sugar, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix all the ingredients together either by hand or a wooden spoon until well-combined and the proteins get a bit streaky on the sides of the bowl. Pick up the mixture and slam it down into the bottom of the bowl several times; this makes the mixture more springy.
Place ½ tablespoon of filling into the center of each wonton wrapper. Wet two of the bottom edges with your finger and a little water. Create a triangle, by pressing the top edges over the filling, carefully pushing out any air. Then wet the two long corners of the triangle and connect them into a dumpling shape.
Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil, carefully drop in the desired number of wontons, and cook until they float to the top, about 3-4 minutes.
Garnish with cilantro and green onions, drizzle with chili sauce and enjoy!
