A jar of Homemade Pesto with a spoon inside

If you haven’t noticed already, we’re on a make-it-yourself-at-home/better than store-bought kick lately. As a culture, we’ve gotten into the habit of buying certain things for convenience-sake: canned and jarred sauces, bottled dressings, packaged seasonings, you name it. While these things do help to make meal preparation easier, it really doesn’t take that much more time or effort to make, say a homemade tomato sauce, vinaigrette dressing, or in our case today, pesto. This Homemade Pesto is so pure and good, you’ll forever turn your back on store-bought.

With only a handful of ingredients and a blender, pesto has to be one of the easiest and tastiest sauces you can make at home. The return on investment is great here: little time + little ingredients = lots of flavor. Fresh Italian basil is the star of the show, enhanced by the nuttiness of walnuts and pistachios (or traditionally, pine nuts 🌲) and parmesan cheese. A healthy glug of olive oil brings all of this together into a beautifully smooth paste fit for your favorite pasta or sandwich.

Use this pesto in a classic Pesto Chicken Pasta or in sandwiches, wraps, or even as a dip for pita chips. Once you see how easy it is to make, Homemade Pesto will become a secret weapon 🔫 in your easy dinners arsenal.
