Tray of Sweet and Spicy Roasted Pecans

Trader Joe’s used to sell a bag of sweet and savory pecans that my husband 🧔‍♂️ really enjoyed snacking 🫳 🍱 on with some dried fruit and/or meat and cheese. We stopped buying them after a while and I decided to make them myself. I believe TJ’s has since discontinued this item, but my husband likes this homemade version even more and it’s fun for me to experiment with different flavors and the spice level.

A medley of savory spices like paprika, cumin, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper give a kick of interesting flavor to the slightly sweetened roasted pecans. It’s a lovely combination of sweet and spicy that amplifies the natural, buttery sweetness of the nut.

I recently featured these babies in a fall-themed food board for a girls’ Halloween night, along with Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls, English Toffee Bark, and Cinnamon Vanilla Candied Almonds, and they were a surprising, yet welcome bit of savory spice amidst a sea 🌊 of sweets. Feature them in a charcuterie board or homemade trail mix for a delightfully different kind of snack.
